This was my second time at Sculpture in the Vineyards Wollombi. A picturesque area south west of Cessnock in the upper Hunter Valley. I seem to like working with what, on first impressions, seem to be clunky work-a-day sites. In 2013 I was given this area along a farm entrance road cluttered by sheds and water tanks. But the verge gave me an idea to work with a design recalling a printers color bar. A design so prosaic and functional, it sat along side the shed and tanks with ease. But lets not forget this was an operational farm and my painting was blocking a gate to a paddock. Thus I put in colored tracks leading from the work to the field. When sculpture gets in the way, run it over. It’s flat enough.
